Before we discuss the how, we have to know the “what” first. What articles are usually written online? It can be a product review, website content, or a blog or whatever your “client” requires you to do and most times, the articles you write will contain keywords. Of course, you want to make sure that you know where to submit these articles after writing them. Some of the top article directories where you can submit your work are ezinearticles.com, ehow.com, and squidoo.com. Topics will also vary. You may also work for employers that are into the SEO industry. You can find these employers in websites like odesk and elance.

You will be instructed by your client to write on a particular topic and more often than not, the keywords will also be provided to you. All you need to do is integrate the keywords to the article you’ll write in line with the topic given. This isn’t really hard to do. You just have to use your common sense as to when to integrate them. Usually, keywords must be placed in the introduction, body, and conclusion of your article or as required by your client. Integrating the keywords is very important because they are the ones that contribute significantly to online traffic. Some keywords are hard to put but most of the time, it’s easy to do.

Just like writing a normal essay, your article has to have flow. It has to possess fluency and it is best that it doesn’t sound like it’s trying so hard. You want it to sound communicative and friendly, as if you are just talking to a friend because this allows a smooth reading process for the readers. They wouldn’t feel too stressed in reading and digesting the information at hand. Your article must have its introduction, body, and conclusion.

There are topics that are hard to write about and they require extensive research. In writing articles online for money, you have to be internet savvy and must have good research skills. Some clients are not really particular in the depth of the content or how the articles should be written. As long as they make good sense, they are good to go. On the other hand, there are clients that require you to be very particular on the content and the way the article should sound.

In writing your article, you must take very important note of the following:

Originality. This is the most important factor in making a successful article online. Write the article in your own words and never copy and paste content from another article online. There are times that coincidentally, you’ll have the same words used with other writers but surely it won’t affect the originality of your work because there will always be a significant difference. There will be slight similarities but not to a percentage that you’ll be hit badly on originality. Remember, you can be creative and you also have the power to write in your own style.
Keyword density. Clients have different keyword density requirements. Keyword density refers to the number of times the keywords must appear in the article. There can be very challenging keywords especially when they aren’t grammatically correct in structure but you will always be able to figure out a way to make them work. Just make sure you follow your client’s requirement.
Word count. Often you won’t be able to decide as to how long the articles should be written. There are clients that give you the word count per article along with the topic and keywords. If your client needs you to follow certain word count, he or she will definitely tell you. There are also clients that are not really particular with the length as well as your style in writing. The important thing is the article is informative and helpful and most importantly, original.
Minimal to zero editing required. When writing your article, always be aware of your sentence construction and how you put the sentences together. This increases the quality of your written output. Excellent English proficiency is important in this business. Clients don’t like articles that still need to be edited or even revised on their end because it would be time consuming. If your proficiency is or almost first-rate, then you will not have a problem with this but if you write and your output would always need major overhaul every time, this job isn’t for you.

Actually, it is also possible for you to just write whatever you like and still earn. This is what bloggers do. They write and write and write to increase traffic on their weblogs and then earn through ads. Most writers that do this write about lifestyle as in travel, fashion, food, and health. The more visits you get on your site, the more money comes into your pocket. Because there is a higher chance for the ads posted on your site to be clicked, which is normally how you earn money. If not all, most publications earn through advertisements and the same goes for websites and online publications.

It is a plus if you know Local SEO or search engine optimization because you will also be adept in using tools such as keyword tool used by internet marketers and SEO specialists to identify what keywords people in the global internet market type in their search engines. The only downside to working on your own site for traffic and to earn through ads is that you need to monitor and update the content. If don’t have the drive for this, working for a client or employer would be your better option. You just have to conform to your client’s requirements and rules.
